Sculptural 'Titselo' bowl in terracotta with a cobalt blue base, by South African design brand Quazi Design.

Quazi Design was born out of a partnership between a designer and a local magazine distributor in 2010, in order to create much needed employment in Eswatini, Southern Africa. What started as a trial in design for social impact became a small thriving business with a solid community of local women artisans, with a belief in sustainable design, ethical production, transparency, and craftsmanship. Their products are all handmade by women who are employed full time in their workshop with permanent contracts. Quazi focus on developing new and innovative techniques using only waste paper and want to change the perception of recycled materials. They transform these waste magazines and newspapers into original designs, using their own simple yet pioneering techniques. Each piece is made by hand with basic tools and the sun’s rays. Materials are locally sourced and environmentally friendly.

Dimensions: 15cm (H) x 27cm (W)

These pieces are made from papermaché made from waste paper and eco varnish, meaning that they are kind to the earth and will biodegrade. Therefore these pieces should not be filled used with liquids or oils, but make good fruit bowls or look great as decorative pieces.
