A New Name, 'A New Tribe' - March 2017
Windows by Damien Poulain
Since opening our doors in April 2016 we loved being 'In Residence' and sharing our passion of interiors and textiles. Our aim was to open a shop offering something a bit different, sourcing unique objects and textiles and working with designers from across the globe and close to home. We couldn't have been more touched by the kind response that the shop has had so far, and almost a year down the line we're still loving it as much as day one. Along the way we also had our share of unexpected hiccups, which to any small business can be tough. For reasons that we won't bore you with, apart from saying that at no fault of our own, we decided to change our name, and now 'A New Tribe' is here to stay! To celebrate our great new name, we collaborated with artist Damien Poulain, who created and hand-painted this incredible artwork onto our windows.
Kana London X The Rug Trade Collaboration - October 2016
KANA LONDON produce beautiful, experimental ceramics and are based not far from our shop in East London. Founded by Ana Kerin, the KANA ethos turns its back on traditional ceramic techniques, and instead Ana creates her own recipes for glazes and hand builds each piece for individuality, resulting in ceramics that have an imperfect beauty. The idea for a collaboration came about after meeting Ana in the shop one boiling hot summers day in 2016, followed by a few more sunny meetings in Ana's studio. The sunshine genuinely did reflect Ana's amazing warm persona. The result was not only a friendship, but also a beautiful collection of individually hand-painted ceramics, inspired by the monochrome geometric patterns from The Rug Trade's Azilal rugs. Each piece, big or small is one of a kind and has its own identity.
